Tucked into the lesser-known village of Darmane near Mukteshwar, URNA Boutique Stay is a small, intentional retreat where dogs are explicitly welcome to stay in your room - not just tolerated on the grounds. The A-frame cottages sit inside a quiet, open property with room to roam, and the kitchen will prepare regular meals for your dog on request at a nominal charge. It's the kind of place where the philosophy is slow living, and that suits travelling dogs just fine.

URNA's own property policy states: "Your dog is most welcome to accompany you in your room when you stay with us, just don't let him/her sleep on our guest bed." Dogs are allowed with an extra charge. The property can also prepare regular meals for your dog at a nominal charge on request. This information has been confirmed against the property's official website and Google listing.
What the property is actually like
URNA describes itself as a boutique stargazing stay in the heart of rural Kumaon, and the ethos runs deep - no TVs in rooms, a deliberate push toward digital detox, and a philosophy they call Kukaro, or simply being. The A-frame cottages are well maintained and guests consistently mention waking up to Himalayan views right from the bed. There is a small lounge, a restaurant serving home-style meals, free breakfast, and free Wi-Fi in public areas. The property does not have a pool, spa, or fitness centre - this is a nature retreat, not a resort.
For your dog specifically
Dogs stay in the room with you - that's confirmed directly by the property. The open grounds mean your dog gets real space to run and play; past guests travelling with dogs have noted their pets thoroughly enjoyed the open area. Dog meals prepared on request is a genuine differentiator that takes real pressure off travelling pet parents who pack food. One important rule: dogs are not permitted to sleep on the guest beds. There are no in-room pet beds mentioned, so bring your own if your dog needs one. The pet fee applies, though the exact amount is not published - confirm directly with the property before booking.
Getting there
The property itself describes the journey as a seven-hour drive or a train ride from Delhi. The address places URNA in Village Darmane, P.O. Sunderkhal, Dhari - a rural location off the main Mukteshwar road. The drive into this part of Kumaon is mountain road territory, so factor that in if you're travelling with a dog prone to motion sickness. The property can arrange local shuttle and drivers' accommodation on a chargeable basis.
