Sela Home by O-Bandhu is a cluster of five boutique, wood-panelled cabins in Pondha, on the edge of Dehradun, set in a forest clearing and built around a private pool and two open lawns. We stayed in the Large Cabin - it has its own sofa seating area and a large bathroom with a jacuzzi - for a weekend with Apple, Captain and Kimchi (plus our friend's dog Rustie, who tagged along) and can vouch for the part that matters most: every part of this property is open to dogs, free of charge.
Pet Policy at a Glance
- Pets allowed, no charge - confirmed by the property and on our visit
- Dogs and cats both allowed
- No restriction on number of pets or breed
- Dogs are welcome in the private pool
- Two large lawns for running and play
- Dogs welcome at the in-house restaurant too
The standout was the pool. Apple - who usually needs convincing near water - let himself in and out whenever he felt like it, no coaxing required. Captain and Kimchi spent most of the weekend across the two lawns, and Rustie simply followed everyone everywhere: bedroom, poolside, and the dinner table.
What the dogs loved
Free run of the pool and two open lawns, with a caretaker who was genuinely warm toward all four dogs - no hesitation about breed or size.
Good to know before you book
There's no fixed cap on the number of dogs, but we'd still recommend telling the property in advance how many you're bringing - it keeps check-in hassle-free and lets them stay prepared. The property is also cash-only - no credit cards accepted, per their Google Business listing - so it's worth carrying cash or confirming payment options when you book. It is a wood-panelled cabin property without a fitness centre or spa, and is not wheelchair accessible. The five cabins sit in a genuine forest, fully enclosed by a high boundary wall with barbed wire - so dogs cannot wander onto the road. For food, guests can use the property's kitchen to cook their own meals, order delivery via Zomato, or arrange for the in-house chef to prepare Pahadi (Uttarakhand hill cuisine) - this is separate from the in-house restaurant where dogs are also welcome at the table.
