The Setting - Greenery, Cottages, and That Robbers Cave Walk
Rio Resort's biggest draw for dog owners is its location. The property sits right at Guchchu Pani - the area locals call Robbers Cave - and the lush forested grounds surrounding the cottages give your dog real room to move. The resort describes itself as lying in the foothills of the Himalayas, and guests consistently mention the clean air and green environment. A 9-minute walk gets you to the Robbers Cave hiking and picnic area, which makes for a solid morning outing with your dog before the crowds arrive. Tapkeshwar Temple is 7 km away if you want to extend the day.
Facilities Worth Knowing About
The resort has a pool, spa, restaurant serving buffet dinner and breakfast (free), room service, and free Wi-Fi in all rooms. Air conditioning is available, and some rooms have a kitchen - useful if you're travelling with a dog and prefer to prep your own meals or store pet food. Full-service laundry, 24-hour front desk, free parking, and airport shuttle (extra charge) round out the practical offerings. The property is also child-friendly, so expect families on weekends. Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM - worth planning around if you're driving from Delhi or further.
What to Sort Before You Arrive
Pets are accepted at an extra charge, but the exact amount is not publicly listed - call the property directly at 098101 25957 to confirm the current fee, whether there's a weight or breed limit, and whether dogs are permitted inside the cottage rooms or only on the grounds. Getting these details confirmed before you book will save surprises at check-in. The resort does not have a fitness centre, but the outdoor space and proximity to Robbers Cave more than compensate for an active dog.
