I built this after one bad trip to Nainital. "Pet friendly" online does not always mean pet friendly at the door, and I got tired of finding that out at reception with a tired dog.
Five years ago I adopted Apple, my Golden Retriever. Then came a trip to Manali.
Hotel after hotel said pet friendly online. At the door, several of them said no. Finding a genuine stay turned into a bigger job than planning the rest of the trip.
Nainital is where it became impossible to ignore. I drove up from Gurgaon, reached the Airbnb, and found out Apple was not allowed on the bed. It was 9 PM in a hill town. I cancelled and went looking for somewhere else.
That night is why this platform exists. The question was never whether a place says yes. It is whether they mean it, and what the actual rules are before you are standing at reception with a tired dog and no backup plan.
Every listing carries one of four tiers. The tier tells you how the information was confirmed, so you know exactly how much to trust it before you book.
We went there ourselves, with our own dogs. Apple, Captain and Kimchi have walked the grounds, swum in the water, slept in the rooms. A place only becomes Tails Verified when we have genuinely been there with the pack. Nothing on this platform carries more weight.
Our team contacted the property directly and confirmed the specific pet policy through a logged call, email or WhatsApp conversation. Not scraped, not assumed from a booking site tag.
The property owner or manager claimed the listing and stated their own pet policy. Clearly labelled as their word, not independently confirmed by us yet.
Reported as pet friendly by a credible source, but we have not confirmed the current policy ourselves. Call ahead before you travel.
We never upgrade a listing because it would look better. If we have not been there, it does not get the gold badge.
"Dogs allowed" is where most listings stop. It is where the real questions start.
Pet charges, whether it is free, a flat fee, per night, or a refundable deposit
Size and breed rules, including the 15 kg limit that quietly rules out your Labrador
Where pets can actually go, room by room: the lawn, the restaurant, the pool
Water access, a pool your dog can swim in rather than one they watch from a distance
Parking, leash rules and safety notes, the practical things nobody thinks to list
A resort with a pool is not the same as a resort where your dog can get in the water. We say which one it is.
Every Tails Verified place was walked, swum in or slept in by one of these four. They are not mascots. They are the reason the tier exists.

The most travelled of the four, and the reason the rest of this exists. Apple rode 27 hours in First AC from Pune to Delhi on the Goa Express, and pulled a drowning team member out of the water at Sattal Lake. Five years in, he still takes the first stamp on every new trip.

Tall, particular, and quietly unimpressed by his siblings. Captain has never slept on a floor in his life. It is the recliner, the bed, or the lawn in direct sun, and nothing else. He will leap into water and then stand at the very edge of it. He has never put a paw in mud. And no matter where the sweets are hidden, he finds them. We call him Nawab Sahab.

Everything Captain is not. Kimchi finds the muddiest water available and gets straight into it. She picks up commands almost immediately, works out where her toys are hidden, and destroys them within the hour. She follows Ekta from room to room, bathroom included, and has never understood why that might be a problem. Hungry always. Happiest asleep in front of the AC.

Rustie came to us as a foster after a pack of strays attacked her badly. Three weeks to get her physically well again, and a great deal longer for the rest of it. For most of her first year she would not get on the bed, as though she was waiting to be told off for it. Two years in, she sleeps with us now. Still careful, still recovering on her own schedule, and able to hear a plate of biryani being served from anywhere in the house.
Every trip on this site starts somewhere. This one started with an agenda the three of them wrote themselves, and a growth projection nobody has been able to verify.
Six of the seven items were delivered. The cat got away.

We publish what went wrong as readily as what went right. A property with a strict policy gets that policy stated plainly. A place with mixed reviews gets the honest read. One bad recommendation costs more trust than a hundred good ones earn.
We will tell you what we actually know, label how we know it, and say plainly when we do not know yet. A strict policy is still useful when it is stated honestly. What we will not do is let a guess wear a verified badge.
