Verification Policy
We have four verification tiers. Each one represents a specific level of trust based on how we confirmed the pet policy. Here is what they mean.
The gold standard — personally visited
A Tails Verified property is one where we have personally stayed or eaten with our dogs Apple (Golden Retriever), Captain (Indie), and Kimchi (Black Retriever). We have seen the pet policy in action. We have watched how the staff treats arriving dogs, whether the lawn is genuinely accessible, what the river or pool access actually looks like with a dog beside us.
This is the most exacting tier on the site. We only grant it after a personal visit, and we publish photos and a written account on our travel stories page.
You will find Tails Verified listings highlighted with a gold border on search results, a premium card in the listing sidebar showing the dates we visited, and a link to read the full story of our stay there.
Confirmed by our team in writing
A Team Verified property is one where someone from the Pet Friendly Places team has personally contacted the property and confirmed the specific pet policy. The confirmation is logged with a date, the team member's name, and the method (phone call, email, or WhatsApp).
We do not give the Team Verified badge based on what a property's website says. We do not give it based on aggregator lists. Someone on our team must actually contact the property and get the policy confirmed in writing or a recorded call.
This is the badge most properties will eventually carry as we verify them over time. If you see a property that is currently “Listed” but you know it is pet-friendly, you can help us by filling out the contact form so we can prioritise verifying it.
Claimed and confirmed by the property
An Owner Verified property is one where the actual property owner or manager has claimed the listing through our claim form, confirmed the pet policy themselves, and uploaded their own photos.
This tier is different from the other two because the information comes directly from the property. They are accountable for what the listing says. If you discover that an Owner Verified listing has incorrect information, we will investigate directly with the owner.
If you own a pet-friendly property, you can claim your listing from its detail page by clicking “Claim this listing.” We review every claim before granting the badge.
Reported but not yet verified by us
A Listed property is one that has been added to our directory but has not yet been verified through any of the tiers above. These listings exist because someone — often a user — reported the property as pet-friendly. We have included them to keep our directory broad, but we have not independently confirmed the policy.
When you see a Listed property, please call the property directly before booking or visiting. Confirm pet charges, dog size acceptance, and accessible areas. The pet policy may have changed since the listing was added.
We work continuously to move Listed properties up to Team Verified by calling them. If you have visited a Listed property with your dog and can confirm or deny the policy, please tell us through the contact form.
The pet-friendly travel industry in India has a trust problem. Aggregator sites list properties as “pet-friendly” based on old data, marketing claims, or simple mistakes. We have seen listings where the property's own rules clearly state pets are not allowed — yet the listing remains, misleading pet parents who arrive with their dogs only to be turned away.
We built this verification system to make it honest. Every badge represents a specific level of evidence. Every claim is dated. Every Team Verified listing has a logged note about who confirmed it and how. When in doubt, the listing stays as “Listed” with the honest disclosure that we have not yet verified.
Fewer-but-verified listings will always serve you better than more-but-unverified listings. That is the standard we are building toward.
