The Social Stays Mussoorie (Mussoorie)

The Social Stays Mussoorie is a hilltop hostel in Chaman Estate that punches well above its budget price tag - private rooms are pet-friendly, the terrace serves up Garhwal Himalayan views, and your dog stays without any additional charge. It is one of the rare hostel-format properties in Mussoorie that actively accommodates pets, making it a genuinely useful option for solo or small-group travellers who refuse to leave their dog behind.

What the Property Is Actually Like

This is a hostel, not a resort - and that is worth being clear about before you book. Private rooms come with TVs, tea and coffee-making equipment, and attached bathrooms, which makes them comfortable for a dog-accompanied stay. The mixed dorms have balconies, wooden bunk beds, lockers, and shared bathrooms, but pet policy applies to private rooms - so if you are travelling with your dog, book a private room. The on-site café handles meals, though outside food is not allowed, and the terrace with its open mountain sightlines is the real social hub of the place. Staff are noted by guests for being helpful and genuinely engaged - useful when you are navigating a new hill town with a dog in tow.

For Dog Parents: What to Know Before You Go

Pets are permitted on property grounds without a leash, which gives your dog reasonable freedom to move around. However, pets are restricted from the Swimming Pool area, Kitchen, and Restaurant - leash up and be mindful in those zones. Pet food is not stocked at the property, so pack your dog's meals and treats for the full stay. The property does not have resident animals, which means no territorial stress for dogs that are sensitive around other animals. Adventure Park Mussoorie is approximately 900 metres away, and the Mall Road area offers good walking routes - Mussoorie's hill paths are generally manageable for most dogs, though leash discipline on busy stretches of Mall Road is advisable.

Getting Around and Practical Notes

The property offers free parking and free Wi-Fi, and the staff can arrange local guidance on nearby spots. Two-wheelers are available for rent on-site, which is handy for exploring Mussoorie without relying on taxis - though that's obviously a humans-only option for your day trips. Check-in is at 1:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM. The property is approximately 58 km from Dehradun Airport and 8 km from Nag Devta Temple. Maximum 1 pet per booking is a firm policy, so if you are travelling with multiple dogs, check with the property directly before reserving.
