Sterling Mussoorie (Mussoorie)

Sterling Mussoorie sits on a cliff-top estate above the Doon Valley, spread across 5.5 acres with wide-open lawns and valley views that give dogs plenty of room to stretch out. The property explicitly lists dogs as allowed - with an extra charge - making it one of the few established hotel chains in the Mussoorie belt that formally accepts pets. Rooms are spacious (family units go up to 790 sq ft) with picture windows overlooking the valley, so you and your dog aren't cramped indoors either.

The Property for Dogs

The 5.5-acre cliff-top grounds are the real win here for dog parents. Wide lawns, open terraces, and Doon Valley panoramas mean your dog isn't cooped up between four walls - there's genuine space to walk and sniff around the estate. The property sits on Circular Road in Sher Garhi, slightly removed from the Mall Road crowds, which keeps the immediate surroundings calmer than most Mussoorie hotels. That said, Mussoorie's hill roads are narrow and busy, so keeping dogs leashed outside the property grounds is non-negotiable. The resort's activity zones - zip-lining, rope adventures, a 2,000 sq ft Discovery Central - are designed for humans, but the open grounds adjacent to these areas give dogs room to wait comfortably.

Rooms, Food & Facilities

Rooms come with refrigerators, microwaves, coffee makers, and room service - useful when you'd rather not leave your dog alone to head to the restaurant. The Doon Diner serves Garhwali cuisine alongside standard Indian and international options; the valley views from the dining area are consistently called out in guest reviews. Free parking on-site is a genuine plus for road-trippers arriving with dogs and gear. Wi-Fi is free throughout the property. Breakfast is available at an extra charge.

What to Keep in Mind

Sterling, as a chain, tends to position its resorts in elevated, somewhat isolated locations - and Mussoorie is no exception. One consistent review note is that sightseeing spots and facilities are at a distance, with hilly terrain making everything feel further. For dog owners this is actually a benefit (less traffic, fewer crowds near the property), but plan your Mussoorie sightseeing around leaving your dog safely in the room or with a companion. Pet charges are confirmed as extra but the exact amount is not publicly listed - call the property directly before booking to get the current figure and to confirm room-specific pet access.
