If you are driving to Dehradun or Mussoorie on the new Delhi-Dehradun Expressway with your dog, mark Shahi Baithak on your map before you leave. It is one of the very few working stops on this entire corridor right now β and the only one we can confirm as pet-friendly from a personal visit.

β½ Fill up before the expressway β no fuel stations on route
The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway currently has NO operational fuel stations on its main stretch. Fill your tank completely before entering the expressway at Gurgaon or Delhi. Do not rely on finding fuel mid-route. This applies to EVs too β no charging points operational yet.
Why this stop matters for pet parents
The Delhi-Dehradun Expressway is a genuinely fast road β what used to be 6+ hours is now 4 to 4.5 hours in real conditions. But it is an access-controlled greenfield highway with very limited stops, and rest area infrastructure is still being built at most locations. Shahi Baithak sits just off the NH-75 corridor near Gogwan Jalalpur and has the two things you actually need mid-journey with dogs: open ground where dogs can get out, stretch, and relieve themselves, and food for the humans.
We stopped here on our way to Dehradun with Apple (Golden Retriever), Captain (Indie), and Kimchi (Black Retriever). The dogs could get out, move around, and do what dogs need to do after two hours in a car. The restaurant is brand new β about a month old at the time of our visit β with a good North Indian menu. We picked up sandwiches. Large enough parking area, open surroundings, no issue with the dogs.
What to expect with dogs here
Large open space around the dhaba β enough for dogs to walk, sniff, and relieve themselves comfortably. No enclosed seating area that restricts dogs. Brand new property with friendly staff. Located next to Jain Shikani Restaurant β both are neighbours on the same stretch.
Getting here from Gurgaon
From Gurgaon, take NH-48 north toward Delhi, then pick up the Delhi-Dehradun Expressway. Shahi Baithak is approximately 1.5 to 2 hours into the drive depending on your entry point. It sits on the NH-75 corridor near Gogwan Jalalpur in Uttar Pradesh β watch for it on your maps as you pass through this stretch.
