Oxygen HomeStay (Bisht Gaon) (Dehradun)

Oxygen HomeStay sits on the forested outskirts of Dehradun, on the Sigli Road towards Mussoorie, surrounded by Sal forest and mountain views. It is a family-run homestay where pets are explicitly welcome, pet bowls are provided on-site, and the large garden and open grounds give dogs genuine room to stretch out. If you are looking for a base that combines Dehradun city access with fresh air and a calm pace, this one earns its name.

The Property and Grounds

The homestay is set on a large, green premises with a lawn, garden with fountain and water bodies, outdoor furniture, a terrace, and a picnic area - giving dogs real space to wander without a leash anxiety spiral. An outdoor fireplace adds warmth on cooler Dehradun evenings. Rooms come with private bathrooms, air-conditioning, and either garden or mountain views, with balconies, terraces, or inner courtyards attached. The shared kitchen and access to packed lunches make longer stays practical for pet parents who prefer cooking over searching for dog-friendly restaurants.

Hosts and Atmosphere

Managed personally by Mr. Sandeep and Mrs. Swati Sharma, this is explicitly a passion project, not a commercial operation - and guest reviews consistently reflect that. The hosts score 9.7 on Booking.com across 29 reviews, with guests specifically calling out homely meals at reasonable rates and attentive, warm hospitality. The property has a clear character: no alcohol parties, no loud music, no all-male groups - the house rules self-select for the kind of quiet, nature-oriented travellers that dogs tend to do best around. The location near Robbers Cave (10 mins drive) and Mussoorie (approx. 45 mins) gives you genuine hike and walk options beyond the property itself.

Practical Notes for Pet Parents

Free private on-site parking is available without reservation, which matters when you are loading and unloading gear plus a dog. The property offers daily housekeeping, 24-hour security, and CCTV coverage. Airport shuttle and cab arrangements for pick-up or drop-off are available at additional charge - useful if you are arriving by air with a pet. Special diet menus are available on request, and the hosts can arrange grocery deliveries, which is helpful if your dog is on a specific diet. Pet charges are not publicly specified - call ahead and confirm the exact fee before booking to avoid surprises at check-out.
