Country Inn, Dehradun is a contemporary hotel on Saharanpur Road - the main corridor for the Delhi–Dehradun Expressway - making it one of the more practical city-centre stops for pet parents driving in from Delhi. The hotel has had a formal pet policy in place for over five years, which means the staff have seen dogs before and the process is structured rather than improvised. Room sizes here are genuinely generous by Dehradun city standards, starting at 260 sq. ft. for Classic rooms and going up to 650 sq. ft. for Executive Suites.
✓ Confirmed by the property
Country Inn, Dehradun has a published pet policy on their website confirming dogs and caged birds are welcome. Pet approval must be secured in advance - walk-ins with pets are not guaranteed. The ₹1,000 + taxes per pet per night charge covers a pet bed and food naturally available at the property.
What it's actually like checking in with a dog
Pre-approval is non-negotiable here - contact the hotel before you book, not after. The weight limit is 30 kg, though the policy does ask heavier dogs to be raised with the team in advance for a case-by-case decision, so larger breeds aren't automatically turned away. Only one pet per room is allowed, and the hotel asks for any relevant permits or clearances to be submitted before arrival. Once you're in, settling into one of the larger rooms with your dog is comfortable - the suites especially give a retriever-sized dog plenty of room to move around without feeling cramped.
Spaces your dog can access
The honest answer is: limited but workable. Pets are not permitted in the restaurant, banquet hall, gardens, pool, or spa. Designated walking areas exist on the hotel grounds - useful for a quick bathroom break and a stretch - but this is not a property with open lawns or trails. Dogs must be on a leash whenever they leave the room. If you leave the premises without your dog, they must be crated or secured in a carrier in the room. Planning your meals around the no-pets-in-restaurant rule is the main logistical challenge to think through before you arrive.
Location for road-trippers
The hotel sits on Saharanpur Road next to the Doon Baluni Cricket Academy in Majra, putting it about 45 minutes from Jolly Grant Airport and 20 minutes from Rajpur Road and the Clock Tower. For anyone using this as a base or overnight stop on the way to Mussoorie, Rishikesh, or Auli, the expressway access is a genuine advantage - pulling off the expressway and checking in without navigating city traffic makes the logistics noticeably easier. Robber's Cave is around 30 minutes away; Sahastradhara about 50 minutes.
