Nature's Valley Resort, Kausani (baijnath)

Nature's Valley Resort sits tucked into the forested hillside of Kausani, Uttarakhand, surrounded by Oak, Pine, and Rhododendron trees, with every room facing a panoramic spread of snow-capped Himalayan peaks and the Kumaon valley below. It is confirmed pet-friendly - dogs are allowed inside guest rooms at no extra charge, making this one of the more straightforward pet-friendly stays you'll find in the Kumaon hills. With free parking, a 4.3 Google rating across 766 reviews, and a quiet, nature-immersed setting, this is a practical and scenic base for travelling with your dog in the mountains.

The Setting - Forest, Views, and Room to Breathe

The resort is positioned at the View Point on Baijnath Road, next to the Kausani Tea Factory - one of the most scenic stretches in the Kumaon region of Uttarakhand. The property is surrounded by dense forest on all sides, with oak, pine, and rhododendron making up the canopy around the buildings. For a dog travelling with you, this immediately translates to shaded walking paths, fresh mountain air, and a dramatically different sensory environment from anything urban. Kausani itself sits at roughly 1,890 metres above sea level, so temperatures stay comfortable for dogs even in summer - this is not a hot-weather destination.

Every room at the resort is designed to face the Himalayas and the Kumaon valley, with private balconies confirmed as a room feature. Reviewers consistently mention catching glimpses of snow-capped peaks and being able to watch the sunrise from their rooms - the kind of quiet morning on the balcony with your dog that makes mountain travel worth the drive. The resort has also earned a 9.0/10 cleanliness score from guests and a 10/10 for value for money, which matters when you're factoring in pet travel costs.

Pet Policy - What's Confirmed

The pet policy at Nature's Valley Resort is clear on the key points: pets are allowed inside guest rooms, there is no extra pet fee charged, a maximum of one pet is permitted per stay, all breeds are welcome with no restrictions, and dogs must remain on a leash when moving around the property. This is a no-pet-surcharge stay in the Kumaon hills, which is still relatively uncommon for a listed resort in this region.

The leash requirement applies to common areas and the grounds - worth keeping in mind if your dog is used to off-leash time. The property has ample parking confirmed, which matters for road trip arrivals with gear and a dog in tow. Room service is available, so you don't need to leave your pet unattended to find food if you'd rather not. The resort also offers pick-up and drop facilities from the market to the property, which is useful if you need supplies.

What we haven't confirmed: whether the resort has a designated outdoor area for dogs to relieve themselves, whether pet beds or bowls are provided, and whether the leash rule applies uniformly or only in certain zones. It is worth calling ahead on +91 90122 68888 or emailing kausaniretreat@gmail.com to confirm these specifics before arrival.

Facilities and What to Expect On-Property

Nature's Valley Resort is a 3-star property with a solid amenities list for a mountain resort. Confirmed facilities include free Wi-Fi, free parking (ample, per the property's own listing), 24-hour hot and cold running water, 24-hour power backup, room service, a restaurant serving what reviewers describe as "simple homely food" that is "very tasty," a bar, a shared kitchen, and a 24-hour front desk. For families or groups travelling with dogs, the resort has family rooms and suites as room types, and a 2,000 sq ft multipurpose hall for larger gatherings.

Indoor games including carom, table tennis, chess, and ludo are available, and outdoor activities are organised - the resort actively promotes ecotourism including bird watching in the surrounding forest. For a dog parent, the bird-watching trails and forested surroundings are a genuine draw: walking into the oak and rhododendron forest with your dog at this altitude is a different experience entirely from a lowland nature walk. The resort's TripAdvisor rating of 4.4 (196 reviews) places it as the top-ranked B&B/Inn in Simagaon, with location scoring 4.6 and rooms scoring 4.6.

There is no pool at this property based on available information, so water_access for pets is not applicable here. The nearest veterinary support in Kausani has not been confirmed - this is a remote hill station and pet parents should identify the nearest vet in Bageshwar (the district headquarters) before travelling.
