Maati Living Mukteshwar (seetla)

Maati Living is a mud-house homestay tucked into the quiet hills of Seetla, just outside Mukteshwar - and it genuinely welcomes pets at no extra charge. Dogs and cats of all sizes are allowed, the surrounding landscape is open and walkable, and the vibe here is relaxed enough that your dog won't feel like an afterthought. If you're looking for a mountain retreat that doesn't treat your pet as a liability, this is worth a serious look.

The Property & Setting

Maati Living sits off the Chatola Road near Seetla village, about 500 metres from the main signboard. The rooms are mud-walled and wood-finished - warm in the Himalayan cold - with loft-style layouts and hand-painted details that give the place a genuinely handcrafted feel. Outside, the property is surrounded by orchards and open hillside, giving dogs room to breathe and actually stretch their legs. Himalayan views, birdsong, and the absence of crowds are the main draws. Reviews consistently praise the atmosphere and the sense of being far removed from city noise.

Staying Here With a Dog

The open natural surroundings are the biggest practical win for pet parents. There are walking areas around the property, and no restricted zones for pets have been reported. The property's house rules ask that pet owners supervise their animals during the stay - which is fair and standard for a homestay setting. No hidden pet fee has been reported, though you should confirm this when you call ahead. The food here skews organic, locally sourced, and vegetarian - the thali photos in guest reviews look substantial - so carry your dog's usual food if they're fussy.

Sustainability & Practical Details

Maati Living runs a notably serious sustainability programme - energy from carbon-free sources, organic and locally sourced meals, composting, refillable toiletry containers, and water-efficient systems throughout. It's one of the more genuinely eco-conscious properties in the Mukteshwar area, not just in name. Check-in is at 12:00 pm and check-out at 10:00 am. The property accepts cash and NFC mobile payments but no credit cards. Free parking is available on-site. Bicycle hire is available at extra charge, and a local shuttle runs from the property. That combination of mountain calm and genuine sustainability is rare and worth noting for travellers who care about both.
