The Yamuna Expressway is one of India's best-maintained long-distance highways, connecting Delhi to Agra across 165 kilometres of smooth, well-lit road. For pet families driving this corridor, whether heading to Agra for a weekend or continuing south toward Gwalior, Jhansi, or Madhya Pradesh, Food King Plaza is one of the genuinely comfortable pit stops along the way.
The rest area sits at a point where the expressway service zone broadens into a full food court and retail block. The outdoor section adjoining Food King Plaza has a maintained garden area with grass and open ground, which makes a real difference when you are travelling with dogs. Unlike many highway dhabas or toll-connected eateries that offer nothing but tarmac and traffic noise, this spot gives your dog room to stretch, sniff, and decompress after a couple of hours confined in the car.
The food court serves a solid range of Indian highway staples including paratha, dosa, biryani, and snacks, alongside chai and cold drinks. Seating is available both inside the air-conditioned section and outside, and the outdoor area is where dogs settle in comfortably. Staff here have seen pet-travelling families come through regularly and do not make an issue of animals resting in the outdoor zone. Toilets are maintained and generally clean, which is always worth confirming on a long road trip. Parking is spacious and easy to navigate even with an SUV or a larger vehicle.
Apple (The Golden Retriever) and Kimchi stopped here during the overnight Gurgaon to Jabalpur drive in July 2026. This is also where they met a friendly Husky travelling to Agra with his family, which is the kind of spontaneous dog meet that makes highway travel with pets genuinely memorable. The open garden outside gave all three dogs a chance to run briefly before everyone loaded back up and continued south.
For pet families regularly using the Delhi-Agra-Lucknow corridor, Food King Plaza is worth factoring into your schedule as a proper planned stop rather than an afterthought. The combination of outdoor green space, functioning toilets, decent food options, and easy parking makes it one of the more reliable highway pauses on this stretch of the expressway.
The Yamuna Expressway is also a key access road for Vrindavan, Mathura, and Fatehpur Sikri, all of which sit close to the highway. Pet-friendly accommodation in and around Agra is limited, so having reliable rest stops confirmed before you leave Delhi takes a significant amount of uncertainty out of the drive.
