The Lighthouse / U-Tan Sea Resort sits right on the Arabian Sea coast in Uttan, Bhayandar - close enough to Mumbai for a weekend escape, far enough to actually exhale. Set in cottages and villas spread across lawns fragrant with Champa and Mogra, it's the kind of place where your dog can pad through garden paths while you watch the sun drop into the ocean. Both dogs and cats are welcome, with advance notice required so staff can prepare the room accordingly.
✓ Confirmed by the property
Dogs and cats are welcome as personal pets at The Lighthouse Inn. You must inform the property in advance so they can prepare your room. An additional per-day pet fee applies (amount not publicly listed - confirm at booking). A Damage Security Deposit (DSD) is collected at check-in; any soiling, damage, or excessive cleaning caused by pets will be recovered from this deposit.
The Stay Experience
Accommodation here ranges from standard rooms to studios with sitting areas and wet bars, suites with separate living rooms and kitchenettes, and villas with verandas opening onto private lawns - that veranda moment with your dog watching the ocean is worth planning for. All rooms come with flat-screen TVs, furnished balconies or terraces in select categories, split air-conditioning, blackout curtains, and complimentary Wi-Fi. The outdoor swimming pool is available from 8 am to 11 pm, housekeeping runs daily from 7 am to 11 pm, and in-room dining is included. Free on-site parking means you're not scrambling after a long drive up from the city.
For Your Dog (and Cat)
The property explicitly prepares the room before your pet's arrival if you notify them in advance - a small but meaningful sign that this isn't a grudging allowance. The landscaped grounds with undulating lawns give dogs room to move, and the constant sea breeze keeps things comfortable even in warmer months. The oceanfront setting means the smell and sound of the sea are constant companions on your walks around the property. No specific pet amenities (bed, bowl, etc.) are mentioned on the website, so bring your own to be safe. The DSD policy is standard for properties that take pets seriously - treat it like any refundable deposit and you'll be fine.
Food, Facilities & Practical Notes
The oceanfront restaurant and lounge areas are partly covered and partly open-air, which suits pet parents who want to keep an eye on their dog while dining - though whether pets are permitted in dining areas is not confirmed and worth clarifying at booking. The property also has a bar, playground, and sports courts. Check-in is from 3 pm (per the property website) and check-out by 11 am, with early check-in and late check-out available on request. The cancellation policy is strict - free cancellation only until 30 days before arrival, so book with that in mind. The pet fee is charged per day and does not include food; the exact amount is not published, so confirm directly before finalising.
