Moustache Pushkar (Pushkar)

Moustache Pushkar is a well-known backpacker hostel set in an L-shaped property with a spacious garden and mountain views on all sides. It sits on Mamdev Marg beside the last bridge on the canal - walkable to Pushkar Lake, Brahma Temple, and the main bazaar. Dogs and cats are both welcome here, with additional pet charges applying at the time of booking.

What It's Like to Stay Here With a Dog

The property's biggest draw for pet travellers is the lush open garden at the heart of the hostel - it gives dogs room to stretch out away from the bustle of Pushkar's narrow lanes. The hostel is set in a quieter corner of town surrounded by hills, so ambient noise is lower than you'd expect this close to a pilgrim town centre. Guest reviews consistently call out the calm, positive atmosphere and the attentive staff, which matters when you're navigating a new place with a dog in tow. The hostel also has a 24-hour front desk, which is genuinely useful if you need help figuring out where dogs are and aren't allowed around the lake ghats.

Amenities That Work for Pet Parents

Moustache Pushkar packs in a solid list of facilities: free Wi-Fi, air conditioning, parking, baggage storage, a swimming pool, fitness area, and a garden cafe that reviewers specifically praise for its food and coffee. There's a shuttle service and cab rental with driver available - useful if you need to get your dog somewhere without relying on shared transport. The property has 24-hour security and CCTV, power backup, and daily housekeeping. One thing to keep in mind: this is a hostel with dormitory-style accommodation alongside private rooms, so if you're travelling with a dog, confirm at booking whether your specific room type permits your pet - dormitory guests sharing spaces may have different arrangements than private room guests.

Getting Around Pushkar With a Dog

Pushkar is a sacred town and the area around Pushkar Lake and the Brahma Temple ghats can get very crowded, especially during religious events. The hostel's location - beside the last bridge on the canal - puts you within walking distance of major sights, but always gauge your dog's comfort before heading into the dense lanes of the old town during peak hours. Early mornings are significantly quieter and better suited for dog walks through the bazaar areas. The hostel organises sunrise treks and walking tours, so ask staff about dog-appropriate routes into the surrounding Aravalli hills.
