Judge's Court, Puri (Puri)

Current confirmed policy updates: Pets are allowed on beds and sofas. There are no breed restrictions. All dog sizes are allowed. These confirmations supersede older statements for these facts only. Other restrictions remain unchanged.

Judge's Court in Puri, Odisha is a heritage-style guesthouse with serious character , a beautiful spacious garden that reviewers keep coming back to describe, antique four-poster beds, and the kind of quietly personal hospitality that's increasingly rare on the Odisha coast. It sits near Ananya Resort in Puri's quieter residential stretch, which means you're close to the beach without being inside the chaos of the main tourist drag. For pet parents, the confirmed headline is straightforward: pets are allowed in private rooms, and there are no pet charges.

The Property

Judge's Court is a heritage bungalow-style property , the kind of place that feels like it belongs to a different era of travel. Google reviewers consistently describe it as feeling like a home away from home, with the owner reportedly involved personally even when not physically present. The rooms lean antique: four-poster beds, cane chairs, heavy curtains. Reviewers have flagged that the property has character but not all modern conveniences , one noted the outside bathroom in certain room configurations lacks a hot shower, and Wi-Fi has been called poor. If you're looking for a polished resort experience, this isn't it. If you're looking for a characterful, uncrowded stay in Puri where your dog is genuinely welcome in your room at no extra cost, it earns its 4.7 on Google.

The garden is the standout outdoor feature , multiple reviewers call it spacious and beautiful. For pet parents, that's the detail that matters most: there's real outdoor space here for your dog to move around in, not just a narrow corridor between buildings. Breakfast is confirmed as available on-site. Check-in is from 8:00 AM and check-out is at 10:00 AM , note the early checkout, which is worth flagging if you're travelling a long distance on departure day.

Pet Policy in Detail

The confirmed policy is pets allowed in private rooms, with no pet charges. This places Judge's Court in a genuinely rare category for Odisha , most heritage guesthouses in the state either don't address pets at all or quietly turn them away at the door. Here, it's explicitly confirmed. What isn't confirmed: whether there are weight or breed restrictions, whether the garden is fully enclosed for off-leash time, or whether there are any restrictions on how many pets per room. These are worth verifying directly before you arrive, especially if you're travelling with a large breed like a Labrador or Golden Retriever. The number to call is 098109 33269.

The private-room-only caveat is worth noting for practical reasons: if the property has any shared dormitory-style accommodation or shared facilities, those areas may not be pet-accessible. For most dog owners booking a standard private room, this shouldn't be an issue , but it's honest to flag.

What to Know Before You Visit

Puri is a significant pilgrimage town as well as a beach destination, and some areas around the Jagannath Temple have movement restrictions. None of this affects a stay at Judge's Court directly, but it's worth knowing that certain parts of the old town may not be easy to navigate with a dog on leash. The beach itself , Puri Beach , is publicly accessible and one of the few stretches on the Odisha coast where you can actually walk your dog at the water's edge, especially in the early mornings before the crowds arrive.

The property is listed on MakeMyTrip, which gives you an additional booking channel if the property's direct Facebook page doesn't show availability. Rates on Google are shown from approximately ₹4,129 per night, though prices will vary by season and room type , always verify current rates directly or via your booking platform of choice.
