6.5 acres
Woodland Property
Perched on a hillside in Chail's Bhalawag Forest, about 45 km from Shimla, Welcomhotel by ITC Hotels Tavleen is a 5-star property spread across 6.5 acres of oak and pine woodland. Google confirms dogs and cats are welcome here, with a pet charge applicable. For pet parents who want a proper luxury base in the Himachal hills - with actual forest trails on the premises - this is one of the few five-star options that doesn't turn your dog away at reception.
✓ Verified by the Pet Friendly Places team
Google's listing for this property explicitly confirms dogs and cats are allowed, with an extra charge applicable. We have cross-referenced this with the Booking.com listing. Specific per-stay pet fee amounts were not disclosed on either platform at the time of verification - confirm the current charge directly with the hotel before booking.
What It's Like for Dogs Here
The property sits within Bhalawag Forest, and the hotel's own Oak Trail and Pine Trail cut through the grounds - meaning your dog gets a proper forest walk without leaving the property. The estate is large enough that you won't feel like you're constantly navigating around other guests. Rooms, suites, and cottages all have private balconies, which matters when you're travelling with a dog who needs a moment to settle and sniff the mountain air before you head out. The terrain is hilly, so expect some inclines on any walk around the grounds.
Facilities That Matter for a Pet Trip
Free private parking on site (reservation needed) is a genuine plus - most people coming with dogs are driving, and navigating mountain roads to find parking elsewhere is not fun. The outdoor swimming pool is open year-round, though whether dogs are permitted near the pool area is not confirmed. The property has two restaurants, room service, a spa, fitness centre, and a 24-hour front desk - the kind of setup where you won't feel like you're roughing it while also being properly surrounded by forest. Valet parking, luggage storage, and concierge services are all available, which helps when you're managing a dog alongside your own check-in logistics.
Booking and Things to Clarify
Pet charges are listed as applicable but the exact amount is not publicly disclosed on Booking.com or Google. Call the hotel directly on 0177 350 1111 or email reservations@itchotels.com before confirming your stay - ask specifically about the per-night pet fee, whether pets are allowed in all room categories (Deluxe, Superior, Suites, and Cottages), and any restrictions on the number of pets per room. Clarifying this before arrival saves the awkward conversation at check-in. Check-in is at 3:00 PM and check-out is at 12:00 PM.
Getting There
The property is located at Bhalawag Forest, Kandaghat–Chail–Kufri Road, near Janedghat, Himachal Pradesh 171218. By road from Shimla it's approximately 45 km, and the nearest airport is Shimla Airport at roughly 59 km. The road up to Chail is a mountain route - take it steady, particularly if you're travelling with dogs who may be anxious on winding roads.
