Set 8 km from the bustle of Dharamshala's main town, Tree of Life Birdsong Chalets sits between open green fields and dense forest, with the snow-capped Dhauladhar range framing every view. The property's 19 rooms - spread across family suites and hideaway chalets with balconies - are built in local hill style with mud exteriors and slate roofs, giving it a grounded, unhurried feel. Pets are welcome here, with a large lawn where your dog can stretch out properly after a long drive up.

Pets are allowed at Tree of Life Birdsong Chalets with a charge of ₹1,000 per pet. Up to 2 pets are permitted per stay, with no breed restrictions. Dogs are welcome in the lawn area and must be kept on a leash in all outdoor spaces. Pets are not permitted inside the restaurant or near the swimming pool.
What the property looks like for a dog parent
The lawn here is a genuine selling point - it's large enough for a dog to run, and with forest on one side and mountain views on the other, your dog will not want to leave the grounds. The mud-and-slate construction keeps temperatures comfortable even in summer, and the property's unhurried pace means you won't feel rushed or self-conscious with a dog in tow. Pet bowls are listed as an available amenity, which is a small but welcome detail. The leash rule applies across all outdoor areas, so keep a leash handy even on the lawn.
Rooms, food, and what's around you
Rooms are spacious by mountain standards - king-size beds, air conditioning, heating, tea/coffee makers, and flat-screen TVs are standard across categories. The four two-bedroom family rooms are a practical choice if you're travelling with a dog and children. The Bamboo House restaurant serves hill cuisine alongside Indian and continental options, but note that the dining area is off-limits for pets - plan for room service if your dog isn't comfortable being left alone. The outdoor pool is open year-round and comes with a poolside deck for lounging, though dogs cannot access the pool area. Badminton, hiking, and walking tours are available for guests who want to explore beyond the property.
Getting the most out of your stay
The location - 5 km from Kangra Airport and about 7 km from HPCA Cricket Stadium - makes this a convenient base for exploring the Dharamshala-McLeod Ganj belt without staying in the thick of the tourist crowd. The early-morning Dhauladhar views from the lawn are consistently called out in guest reviews as a highlight, and the staff responsiveness (even for late arrivals) has come up repeatedly in recent feedback. Check-in opens at 2 PM and runs until 10 PM - if you're driving from Delhi or Chandigarh and expect a late arrival, inform the property in advance.
