Walk to Shimla ISBT
Shyamala Heritage Homes is a pet-first British-era heritage property tucked away in the quieter Tutikandi pocket of Shimla - calm enough to feel like a proper hill escape, yet close enough to the ISBT to make logistics easy. The property runs its own Pet Café & Bakery on-site, hosts therapy dogs, and organises pet-friendly community events, making it one of the most genuinely dog-centred stays in Himachal Pradesh. Rooms are notably large by Shimla standards, food is home-cooked, and the staff have earned consistent praise for being warm and unhurried.
✓ Confirmed by the property
Shyamala Heritage Homes has confirmed their pet-friendly policy directly. Pet stay is included in the room tariff (nominal cleaning charges may apply). Pet meals are available at the Shyamala Pet Café & Bakery, and dinner for pets can be pre-ordered and served in the room - charged separately. Bowls are provided in-room. The property also has an unleashed zone and a splash pool for dogs on the grounds.
The Canopy Cottage - What to Expect
The flagship room type is the Canopy Cottage, a first-floor unit with a forest-facing master bedroom, a second room suitable for children or friends, a private lounge with forest views, and a shared front terrace with a gazebo sit-out. Light pours in through skylights and wide windows. Inside you get a small refrigerator, electric kettle, geyser for hot water, free Wi-Fi, cable TV, and daily housekeeping - standard comforts executed well. Lift access is available from the ground floor. A home-style Indian breakfast (parathas, eggs to order, seasonal sides, chai or coffee) can be booked at an additional cost and is prepared by the in-house chef.
A Property Built Around Pets, Not Just Tolerant of Them
Most pet-friendly stays in the hills are simply hotels that say yes to dogs. Shyamala operates differently. The on-site Pet Café & Bakery serves pet meals with transparent ingredient listings - useful if your dog has dietary restrictions. The property keeps therapy dogs, runs volunteer programmes, and organises slow, mindful pet-parent events open to both guests and local visitors. The unleashed zone and splash pool on the grounds give dogs somewhere to properly decompress after a car journey. Your dog must be comfortable around people and other animals - this is a social, multi-pet environment, not a quiet solo retreat.
Practical Notes Before You Book
Pet charges are listed as included in the room rate with nominal cleaning charges that may apply - confirm the exact amount at the time of booking. Pet meals are charged separately at the café. Outdoor activities including trails, hikes, and workshops are subject to weather and safety assessments on the day. Guests are fully responsible for supervising their pets at all times, and the property is not liable for any injury, illness, or loss involving pets. If your dog has food allergies, flag them clearly when pre-ordering pet meals - ingredient transparency is a stated policy, so the team should be able to accommodate.
