GHMC Dog Park, Gachibowli (Hyderabad)

India's first exclusive dog park , built by the Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) on what was previously a reclaimed dump yard in Gachibowli , is a genuinely impressive piece of public infrastructure for pet owners in Hyderabad, Telangana. Spread across 1.3 acres in the heart of the city's tech corridor, the park gives dogs a proper off-leash space to run, splash, and socialise in a safe, enclosed environment. Human entry is ₹50 per person; dogs get in free.

What Makes This Park Different

Most public parks in Indian cities are either not dog-friendly or treat dogs as an afterthought. The GHMC Dog Park is the opposite , dogs are the primary users, and every feature has been designed around them. The 1.3-acre space is divided into separate enclosures for large and small breeds, which matters enormously if you have a nervous dog or a small one that gets overwhelmed. Agility equipment , including tunnels, ramps, and hoop-jumps , is installed throughout the park, giving active dogs something to do beyond just running laps. Splash pools and fountains are available for dogs who want to cool off, and drinking water stations are placed across the grounds.

The surface is a mix of artificial turf and grass, kept reasonably clean given that this is a public, GHMC-run facility. Reviewers consistently note the park is well-maintained for its scale , though like any busy public space, conditions can vary on weekends. A walking track runs around the perimeter for owners who want to get their own steps in while their dogs play.

Facilities for Pet Parents

There is a small snack area inside the park , referred to in reviews as a café or snack place , where human visitors can grab something while their dogs exercise. Seating areas are available throughout. The park operates two sessions daily (morning: 6–10:30 AM, evening: 4–10 PM), which makes it usable before and after office hours , a practical detail for working pet parents in the Gachibowli IT corridor. Dogs should be vaccinated and reasonably well-behaved; the off-leash nature of the space means your dog will encounter other dogs, including large breeds, in the shared sections.

One practical note flagged consistently in reviews: parking is limited and can be a problem, especially during peak evening hours. If you're driving in, arriving early in the morning session or on a weekday evening will save you the headache. Street parking on DLF Road is the typical fallback, but it fills up quickly on weekends.

Pet Policy at a Glance

The GHMC Dog Park is designed exclusively for dogs , it is not a general public park where pets are incidentally tolerated. Dogs are welcome off-leash in the designated enclosures. The standard expectation is that dogs should be vaccinated and under reasonable behavioural control. There are no confirmed breed restrictions, and multiple breeds of all sizes are regularly spotted at the park. Pet entry is free; the ₹50 fee applies to human visitors only. No pet charges, no deposit, no documentation required beyond basic vaccination status.

What to Confirm Before You Visit

The park is run by GHMC (a municipal corporation), so policies and maintenance standards can change without much notice. A few things worth confirming at the gate: whether vaccination proof is being actively checked on the day of your visit, whether both enclosures (large and small dog) are open and operational, and whether the snack café is currently running. There is no official phone number or dedicated website for the park as of our verification , your best source of real-time information is the park's Google Maps listing or recent reviews on Justdial, where the park holds a 4.5/5 rating across 3,170+ votes.
