Under 1 Hour - The Aravalli Day Trip

45 km · Panikot Lake, Faridabad

The closest genuine outdoor freedom from Delhi NCR. An abandoned mine lake in the Aravalli hills with no entry restrictions, no barriers, no guards. Apple, Captain, Rustie, and Kimchi all off-leash in the rocky Aravalli terrain. The golden hour over the lake is the kind of thing that makes you wonder why you do not do this every weekend.

2–3 Hours - Agra, Mathura Direction (Yamuna Expressway)

The Yamuna Expressway is the smoothest drive out of Delhi. The direction has limited verified pet-friendly stays currently - we are building this out. 5–6 Hours - Rishikesh (240 km)

3 verified stays · Ganges river bank access · Private rooms only rule

The route goes EPE → NH9 → NH334 → Haridwar bypass → Rishikesh. Two verified highway stops: Village Food Courts at 35 km and Kundan's at 120 km. All three Hosteller Rishikesh properties allow dogs in private rooms, no extra charge. The Ganges river banks early morning are excellent for dogs who love water.

6–7 Hours - Jim Corbett (255 km)

Tails Verified resort · Kosi River swimming · Forest reserve setting

The Den Corbett Resort is the benchmark pet-friendly property in North India - personally visited with Apple, Captain, and Kimchi. Pet-friendly infinity pool. Kosi River access directly from property. Overnight drive recommended. Same highway stops as Rishikesh route for the first 120 km, then diverges at NH34 toward Kashipur.

7–8 Hours - Bhimtal and Sattal (330 km)

Leash-free resort · Dog swimming lake · Kumaon hills

Emerald Trail above Bhimtal has private fenced gardens per cottage. Sattal's Sita Taal has the best gradual-entry lake swimming we have found in Uttarakhand. Quieter than Nainital, better outdoor access, noticeably cooler at 1,700 metres in summer.

The Two Stops That Appear on Every Route North

Regardless of which direction you go north or northeast from Delhi, these two stops recur:

Village Food Courts, EPE - 35 km, green lawn, 24-hour food, first decompression stop out of city traffic.

Kundan's, Gajraula - 120 km, Punjabi dhaba, proper stretch and dog dinner at the halfway point.

These are not optional. They are the infrastructure of any dog road trip from Delhi NCR.

Planning by Season

October to March: All routes open. Best conditions. This is when to plan your longer trips.

April to May: Hill destinations still workable above 1,500m. Start drives before 9 PM to beat heat. Panikot Lake early morning only.

June to September: Monsoon. Avoid hill routes. Panikot Lake not recommended (waterlogged approach). Plains routes only with careful planning.
