The Two Highway Stops That Appear on Every Route North

Before the destinations - two stops that serve almost every direction out of Delhi and are essential for dogs on any drive longer than 2 hours.

Village Food Courts, Eastern Peripheral Expressway - 35 km northeast of Delhi. Green lawn, 24-hour food, clean facilities. First decompression stop out of city traffic for dogs going to Rishikesh, Corbett, Bhimtal, or Mussoorie.

Kundan's, Gajraula - 120 km on NH9. Punjabi dhaba, outdoor seating, proper dog break at the halfway point for northeast routes.

Emerald Trail is not a property that tolerates dogs - it is a property built around them. Every cottage has its own private fenced garden where your dog roams all day without supervision. A water bowl was on the ground before we had finished checking in. Boiled chicken, rice, and eggs from the kitchen on request. The staff asked about the dogs by name on our second visit.

Seven independent cottages at 1,700 metres on a forest road 40 minutes above Bhimtal. At this elevation, October to March mornings are cold and extraordinary. The forest is real - leopards move through after dark, which the team told us clearly. Bring dogs inside at night. That's not a caution, it's a rule.
