Finding a park in Delhi where your dog can actually run is harder than it should be. Most parks technically allow dogs on leash but have no dedicated dog area, no fencing, and no tolerance for off-leash play. This guide covers the parks that genuinely work - with real information about what is fenced, what is off-leash permitted, and what time of day actually works for dogs.

One thing to know before you go

Delhi's park rules are inconsistently enforced. Many parks officially require leashes but have sections where early morning off-leash play is tacitly permitted. We note these honestly. Rules can change - always have a leash on you regardless of what you have read online.

Lodhi Garden, Lodhi Colony - Central Delhi

On-leash · Large green lawns · Historic monuments · Free entry · Best early morning

90 acres of lush garden in the heart of Delhi. Not a dog park per se - leash policy is in effect - but the sheer size and green cover make it one of the best walking parks in the city for dogs. The Lodi-era monuments provide constant new smells and exploration. A duck pond near the central section gives water-loving dogs something to fixate on. The dog parent community in Delhi is active here on Sunday mornings.

Dogs love it. The absence of crowds makes it the most peaceful walking option in south Delhi. No fencing, no facilities, no waste bins - carry your own bags and water.

Note: nilgai, jackals, and monitor lizards are present in the forest. Keep dogs on leash at all times.

Entry: Free
Best season: October to February - manageable heat and low mosquitoes

Garden of Five Senses, Saket - South Delhi

Dogs on leash · Landscaped paths · Entry fee · Best morning

A well-maintained landscaped garden with varied terrain - stone paths, sculpted sections, open lawns, and shaded groves. The entry fee (₹30 per person, dogs free) keeps crowds manageable. Tips for Visiting Delhi Parks with Dogs

Always carry a leash - even in off-leash areas, have it accessible. Guards and situations change.
Early morning is always better - 6 to 9 AM is when dog communities gather and enforcement is lightest across all Delhi parks.
Carry water and a collapsible bowl - most Delhi parks have taps but not dog-accessible water points.
Poop bags are your responsibility - Delhi parks have minimal waste infrastructure. Carry your own and take everything out.
Summer (April to June): pre-7 AM only - Delhi heat is serious. Paw burns on hot paths are real. Early morning or evening only.
Monsoon (July to September): avoid Sanjay Van and Aravalli forest - leeches on wet trails and waterlogged paths. Stick to paved parks.
